Belle and Sebastian

We are in the middle of London. I have camera loaded. Lights' good. I'm ready to go.

The band - Belle and Sebastian. Young. Absurdly cool. Like they've just stepped out of a thrift store dream and into a magazine spread without trying. Indie charisma radiation alert.

And they want to photo to look like they just had a minor road accident. A what now? Yes the perennial favourite composition - one person lying in the road, one looking concerned and a self hire van for the backdrop.

And not all of them, mind you. Just two of them. With the van. Sort of draped about as if they’ve tumbled out and are now processing their post-crash emotions. Meanwhile, the rest of the band? No idea where they’ve gone. Maybe still in the van. Maybe evaporated into the aesthetic.

I just… I don’t know anymore. I’m just here to press the shutter.
